Yet another reason not to like Barca!
Read it online, as well as on swedish teletext. David Villa, of Valencia CF and Spanish national team fame, is more or less ready to sign for FC Barcelona.
There is a reason to like this, it means Judas Ibra faces rough competition in the role as striker for the team, which ought to shut that cocky wanker up more, but over all, the effects will only prove negative for Spanish footie.
First, it turns Barca into a Spanish Rangers or Celtic, with the one notable difference that at least Gers and the Bhoys have each other to compete with. With this move, I don’t think even Real Madrid can prove much resistance. You have almost got to look to Norway and the bizarre state their footie league was in for years, when Rosenborg won every season for almost twenty years in a row.
The other bad thing with this move is of course what will happen to Valencia, when they loose Villa. Sure, they got David Silva, Joaquin and a bunch of other big stars, but there’s no doubting who their main asset is and therefore, I don’t like this at all. I think Valencia is a fine old club who ought to be up there competing for Champions League slots and that will prove impossible in the near future if this deal follows through.
